Preschoolers to learn second language says Abbott

first_imgEvery preschooler would have to study a foreign language if the coalition wins the next election, said Tony Abbott in his budget reply speech. Mr Abbott stated that within a decade, 40 per cent of year 12 students would be studying a second language under a pre-election target set by the opposition leader. He said further that Australians should not rely on people of the world speaking English. “The Coalition believes that starting in pre-school every student should have an exposure to foreign languages,” he said.
