first_imgRiyan Parag is all of 17 and already living a dream playing for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League this season. The teenager was playing just his second game for the Royals on Saturday and proved his worth with an all-round performance against Mumbai Indians in Jaipur.The Royals rode on Riyan Parag and captain Steve Smith’s 70-run partnership for the fourth wicket to chase down 162 with 5 wickets and 5 balls to spare at the Sawai Mansingh stadium and kept their campaign alive in IPL 2019.Parag scored 43 while Smith remained unbeaten on 59 as RR registered their third win of the season. Had he scored a fifty, Parag would have become the youngest in the league’s history to get to a half-century. Parag also bowled two overs of leg-spin, giving away 17 runs from them.Speaking after the game with teammate Jaydev Unadkat, the Guwahati-born cricketer opened up on his experience of representing the Royals and playing in the IPL for the first time this year.Riyan Parag described the feeling as surreal when Unadkat asked him how it was like playing for the Royals and winning the game with his bat.”It feels really surreal. Been watching the IPL for the last 5-6 years and now being a part of it and playing for Rajasthan Royals, contributing for my team feels surreal. I have been idolising him for such a long time. I had a picture with him when I was six or seven years old. And then bowling to him, sharing the field with him, even batting while he was wicketkeeping behind me was just surreal.”I haven’t told him about the picture of me as a kid with him. I took another one after the game though.
