Xiaomi has launched the first smartphone under its sub-brand Poco — the Poco F1 in India today for a starting price of Rs 20,999. Meanwhile, reports are coming that the Chinese smartphone maker is preparing to launch another phone in the country very soon — it is the Mi 8. The launch may probably happen sometime around the month of September or so. It is, however, important to note that Xiaomi is yet to officially announce the India launch timeline of the Mi 8.The Mi 8 India launch timeline information was initially revealed by 91Mobiles last week. In the report, the media publication had reported that Xiaomi has started accepting orders from the Mi 8 from brick and mortar stores all across India. The report further noted that stores in Delhi, Rajasthan and UP have started taking the orders for the phone.Meanwhile, digging deep, folks at Digivamp have now reportedly spoken with employees at Xiaomi’s service centre, who have revealed that the Mi 8 will be launching in India in September. However, as already mentioned, Xiaomi is yet to reveal information about Mi 8 India launch.According to the new report, one of the employees at the Xiaomi service centre in Chandigarh said, “We’ve been asked by the company to return older, unsold spares in order to make rooms for a new ‘iPhone screens’, back bodies, glass screen, camera component, magnets and ribbon cables.” The employee had further noted, “It usually takes us about two weeks to receive parts and another week to conduct an inventory and send details to the company, all due process is usually completed before the product launch.”advertisementConsidering the configurations, the Mi 8, when it launches in India, will compete with phones like iPhone X. The Mi 8 — just as the iPhone X — will come with a notch on the top of the display and also a facial recognition system — yet again — similar to that of the Apple’s Face ID.As far as the specs are concerned, the Mi 8 comes with a 6.21-inch AMOLED display with a notch on the top of the screen. The phone sports a resolution of 2248 x 1080 pixels and 18.7:9 aspect ratio. On the hardware front, the Mi 8 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB internal storage. Furthermore, as far as the camera setup is concerned, the Mi 8 a dual camera setup on the rear panel consisting of two 12-megapixel sensors, while on the front, the phone fits a 20-megapixel selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture.As far as the price of the phone is concerned, the Mi 8 was launched in China in two variants — 6GB RAM and 128GB which comes with RMB 2,999 — roughly translates to Rs 32,000, while the 6GB RAM/256GB storage model has been priced for RMB 3,299 — which is around Rs 35,000.
