first_imgA Donegal man is part of a team of students from the University of Ulster have made the quarter-finals of BBC’s University Challenge.Cathal McDaid from Buncrana and his college mates faced a grilling from the show’s presenter Jeremy Paxman.With an average age of 50, the Ulster University team is the oldest in the competition. But despite their age, they are certainly not being found wanting.They took on the 2007 champions, Warwick University on Monday night and were victorious with a score of 170 to 140.It’s the first time UU has entered a team in the highbrow BBC quizThey lost to Edinburgh University by just five points in the competition’s first round, but posted the highest losing score in six years.
