Huskies hit rock bottom in loss to Blades

first_imgA frustrated Todd Alexander said after the game that the team is playing like a bunch of individuals and not much will change until that gets corrected.“The effort wasn’t there again. I guess that’s on the coaching staff. I guess we’re not getting the kids ready to play, I’m not sure what’s going on there. We’re just not bringing our game to the rink each and every night as a group. We’ve got a couple of individuals, it seems to be different guys that are having good games but as a group it’s just not there right now.”He added that the team’s issues go beyond the x’s and o’s of the game, and the club is in need of someone to step up and take the bull by the horns and lead the team.- Advertisement -“It’s hard to stand on the bench and watch a team play 15-20 minutes a night. It has nothing to do with systems and players. At the end of the day it’s just work ethic and for whatever reason this group isn’t bringing it. They’ve got to check themselves. Somebody’s got to come up forward and be a leader of this group. That’s a real lack of what we’re having as well right now. Somebody’s got to step up,” he said. The Huskies outshot the Blades in the game 28-27, but very few of those shots could be considered quality shots on goal.Next up for Fort St. John is a home game on Friday night against the Dawson Creek Junior Canucks at 8 p.m.Advertisementlast_img
